New in 4aGC – The beginnings of a donor CRM

We have been hard at work (as always) on improving our online fundraising platform. Our big push in 2019 is to add more donor management capabilities to our platform, basically adding a donor CRM (customer relationship management) to 4aGoodCause. We are working to give the good causes that use our platform easy-to-use tools to help them manage their donor data and interactions with donors.

Our first phase of that work is to update our donor profiles so our clients can use them to track any information on the donors they service. We just launched these updates this week. Inside 4aGoodCause existing clients can click on Donors and then click any donor name to see that donor’s profile.

What was already in the donor profiles

Before I mention our new additions to our platform, let’s look at what was already present on our donor profiles:

  • Stats on year-to-date giving, lifetime giving and average gift amounts
  • A listing of all donation and event orders made by the donor with links to each transaction
  • Easy links to add a new donation for that donor
  • Donor contact information
  • Social media information on donors (if available)
  • Note taking so you can track your interactions with your donors

What’s new

Tagging

You can now apply a “tag” to any donor profile. This will allow you to group donors. You might tag a donor or contact as an “Event attendee”, “Major donor”, “Board member”, etc. You can tag any donor with any tag. Click Edit under Tags to try it out.

New standard fields

You can now enter and track an alternate phone, alternate email, job title, employer and birthday for any contact. This is under Contact Info and Personal Info. Click Edit beside each one to try it out.

Relationships

Do you have donors in the same household or connected in some other way? You can now create a relationship record between contacts. You can connect two profiles. Perhaps they are spouses, co-workers, siblings, etc.  Perhaps one referred the other to your nonprofit. The goal is to create a record of the connection between contacts that you can see on both profiles. Click Edit to try it out. Start typing to find another contact.

Custom fields

There may be data you want to track on your donors that is very unique to your organization. Under More Info, you can now create custom fields to track any data you want on your donors. Click Edit next to More info to try it out.

What’s next

Our next phase of development is to update our search capabilities in this section of 4aGoodCause so you can search for and segment groups of donors based on data fields, tags, and other criteria, basically putting all this new data in these profiles to work. Stay tuned.
